Pratt, South Co. Assignor Larry Bennett The Board of Directors of the Beaumont Chapter met at the Jefferson County Courthouse before the chapter business meeting on 3 November 2003. The board met to discuss two items: the appeal by Cliff Landry of the Division III Representative election at the previous business meeting, and a letter of complaint about Charles Graham from Kountze A/D Todd Sutherland. Gary read an e-mail that he had just received that day from Cliff Landry appealing the results and process of election within the Division III caucus on October 27, 2003. A review of what was said, heard, and observed that night by the board members was conducted. Some of the main points made were that there is no election process for Division representatives delineated in the constitution, there is no appeal process for results of an election, and the only process in the constitution to unseat a member of the board is the recall clause for conduct detrimental to the chapter. Following that discussion, Mike Defee moved to deny the appeal and leave the Division III election as is. Second was by Bob Wortham. The motion carried on voice vote. President Downey read to the board a letter of complaint e-mailed to him by Todd Sutherland, Kountze Athletic Director. The complaint was that Mr. Graham went into the pressbox of an 8th grade game against Buna on October 16, 2003 and verbally assaulted the time keeper. The board agreed that the matter deserved investigation and that the board would sit as the investigative committee. Bob Wortham was charged with presenting the e-mail to Mr. Graham and making arrangements for Mr. Graham to deliver his rebuttal to the letter of complaint. Mr. Wortham did present the letter to Mr. Graham at the chapter meeting and ordered a response by the following Monday, November 10, 2003.
