The Board of Directors of the Beaumont Chapter met after the Chapter Business meeting at the Jury Impaneling Room.

The first issue that President Downey brought to the board was that of Beaumont Chapter member Terry Landry accosting Bob Wortham's crew at the October 25 WOS/LCM game. According to reports, Mr. Landry was upset with events in the game and was making advances toward the officiating crew and had to be restrained by a police officer. President Downey will ask Mr. Wortham's crew to write a letter about the incident to the board, and that he would contact Mr. Landry to set up an interview for his version of the incident. Gary Downey, Greg Peveto, and David Landrum will consist of the investigative sub-committee. This sub-committee will report its findings to the full Board of Directors for determination and resolution of its findings.

President Downey informed the board that it was likely that the first board meeting of the 2003 season would likely be called in late January. Mr. Downey asked the scrimmage fee committee to meet between now and then and bring its recommendations to the board.

The board had a serious philosophical discussion about the sub-varsity amendment to the chapter by-laws offered by Eric Carcerano. It was pointedly observed that the majority of the complaints from coaches this year were generated by officials who did not work much sub-varsity. Discussion followed on how to best strengthen the pertinent chapter constitution & by-law clauses on required sub-varsity work.

Finally, Mr. Downey brought to the board the need to improve the chapter process of qualification to officiate on the football field. General sentiment on the board was to enforce a closed rules exam in the preseason. Secretary Kret offered to author a new member exam that would be administered separate from the member exam.
