Beaumont Chapter Football Officials
Association Present: Pres. Gary Downey, 2nd VP Greg Peveto, Sec/Tr. Geoff Kret, Div. 1 Rep Bob Wortham, Div. 3 Rep Mike Defee, TASO District 9 Director George Bryant, Sub-Varsity Assignor Larry Bennett Absent: 1st VP John Ballard, M/L Will McDonald, Div. 2 Rep John Payton, Div. 4 Rep Greg Sims, Div. 5 Rep James Roberson The Board of Directors of the Beaumont Chapter met at 1800 hours at Bob Wortham's guesthouse in the first called Board Meeting of 2001. George Bryant opened the meeting discussion by detailing some revisions he was proposing to the new C/A/R ranking system. His revisions were meant to encourage participation by revising the proficiency units structure on the top end of the exam table, remove the 20 educational units limit, award units for chapter meeting attendance, and raise the proficiency units and limits on scrimmages. George will be attending the State TASO Football Board of Directors spring meeting the third weekend in March. Secretary's Report The Treasurer's Report consisted of the Chapter's Assets and Liabilities at the close of 2000, income and expense comparison versus budget category for 2000, and a proposed budget for 2001. Also presented was the present net worth of the chapter treasury and expenditures to date. The chapter net worth at the close of 2000 was $7,153.04. The final 2000 Budget showed real cash income of $12,306.04 and a total outflow of $11,501.37 for a net gain of $804.67. The proposed 2001 Budget forecast an income of $11,951 versus an expense of $11,950 for virtually no gain. The draft budget may be pessimistic on income and overstate expenses, to effect the most conservative estimate. The highest expense category increase over 2000 is in the Business Travel line, as the President and Secretary will have to attend the State Meeting in El Paso this year. Greg Peveto made a motion for approval as presented, second by Mike Defee, and was passed. Geoff Kret reviewed the list of members NOT in Good Standing. Twenty-seven members of the Chapter in 2000 had not yet paid dues for 2001. There were 9 prospective new or reinstating members on a separate list to include in chapter mailings. The Teams list, as know to the Secretary at the present time, was reviewed. There are now 18 crews due to Sandy Turner and Larry Bennett starting new crews. Three existing crews were known to have vacancies at one or more positions at this time. Eight crews of the sixteen from 2000 are believed to have no changes since last year. Two statistics sheets compiled by the Secretary were also reviewed. The first was a matrix of crews versus area schools tabulating how many times a crew worked a varsity game for which school, and also how many 5A, 4A, 3A, 2A, and 1A games each crew worked. The purpose of this sheet was to determine if smaller schools actually were denied service from highly rated crews. It was concluded that 2A and 1A schools were indeed able to be served by playoff caliber crews. The second stat sheet was a compilation of games NOT WORKED by the Beaumont Chapter due to the game not being assigned at the Pickings, or contracted yet scratched, or assigned at the pickings one-sided then refused by the opposing out of area school. The conclusion reached from this review was that the most significant, playoff-caliber games lost were out of District 20-4A. It was noted that the chapter worked one game less than half of the 20-4A district games (7 of 15). Unfinished Business - none remaining from 2000 New Business
Þ The next board meeting will be held at 6:00 PM prior to the Spring Chapter Meeting on April 9 at the Jefferson County Courthouse Jury Impaneling Auditorium. Geoffrey Kret, Secretary |
